Synology has announced the official release of its award-winning NAS operating system, the DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.2.
“DSM 5.2 empowers home and professional users with new tools and technologies to solve their everyday needs and improve productivity,” said Derren Lu, CEO of Synology Inc. “We express our appreciation to the loyal users who participated in the DSM 5.2 Beta Program, helping to make this the best version yet.”
Some of the new features introduced in DSM 5.2 include:
- More customizable and encrypted cloud syncing – providers now include Amazon S3, SFR, hicloud, Megafon Disk, Yandex Disk and WebDAV cloud storage sites
- AppArmor and SMB3 encryption security – better security around packaged apps and data protection as it moves around the network
- Adaptive Load Balancing (ALB) support for Link Aggregation/failover – support for a range of Link Aggregation modes without the need for a server grade switch
You can get a full list of software specifications from the Synology website.

And where have you found that the 1010 is EOL? I can’t find any official synology blog posting or news update about this.
Hi, it was in a press release they did. I’ll see if I can find any further info.
