Skullcandy Hesh Evo

Introduction

The Skullcandy Hesh Evo are wireless over-ear headphones that come with a simple design. You get incredible battery life and an interesting, V-shaped sound profile. This means that you get a bit of extra bass and very bright vocals and instruments. If you are into the bulky over-ear design, these headphones are a solid choice. Let’s now take a closer look at them.

Design & Quality

The minimalist, over-ear design looks very sleek and modern. However, the rather large size is not for everyone. Still, they are comfortable and come with thick faux leather padding on both the ear cups and headband.

You get a USB-C charging cable with them as well as an AUX cable for wired playback and a travel bag. The travel bag looks and feels very nice, but it won’t give you the protection that a hardshell case would.

You also get button controls on the bottom of the right ear cup that you can use to skip tracks, change the volume, and even activate the voice assistant.

The build quality is decent and slightly above average, but it’s nothing to write home about. They should survive some minor drops, but they don’t feel very dense and heavy, so be careful with them.

Battery Life

The 44 hours of battery life are impressive. And you also get a USB-C port and cable to charge them, which should be standard for all modern devices. You also have a 10-minute quick charge feature to get up to three hours of battery life.

Sound

The V-shaped sound profile should satisfy the majority. You get a juicy, heavy bass with clear, bright vocals and lead instruments. This makes them perfect for pretty much any genre, but if you like a more flat sound, these are not for you.

That being said, they do have personality, which makes them unique and you either love them or hate them. Some people say that the bass is too heavy and can be overwhelming, so be mindful of that.

What the Skullcandy Hesh Evo could really use is an EQ. Unfortunately, you can’t change the sound at all, so you’re stuck with the default profile.

And thanks to the built-in microphone, you can easily use these headphones with a PC, Playstation, or Xbox for gaming or answering phone calls.

Final Thoughts

The Skullcandy Hesh Evo is a solid pair of headphones that are a bit bass-heavy, but they also have clear mids. The build quality and design are decent too, but the battery life is one of the best features.
