New Epson 4K PRO-UHD Projectors Launched

Epson has announced its new 4K PRO-UHD projector technology, the most significant announcement in its home entertainment market segment to date. The new technology combines high levels of brightness, colour and detail to deliver a brilliant 4K experience.

What is 4K PRO-UHD? From what we know, Epson use it as an “umbrella term” that refers to their suite of three key technologies found in their latest projectors. The first three projectors launched under this technology are the EH-TW8400, EH-TW9400 and EH-TW9400W.

Despite the name, these are not native 4K projectors. The range uses Epson’s proprietary pixel shifting technology for resolution enhancement. Epson believe that they can push the projectors to the best of their ability and achieve a video image equivalent of a high quality 4K cinema experience. Starting at AUD$4,099, these are shaping up to be more affordable than their native 4K counterparts.

Epson outline 2 key areas that help them be on par with native 4K projectors. Firstly, the excellent brightness can be attributed to HDR10 (High Dynamic Range 10) and 100% balanced colour brightness. Secondly, the core 3LCD panel technology used in conjunction with a very wide colour gamut helps to deliver crisp colours.
