Travelling often can wreak havoc on your viewing habits. Many notebooks are unable to provide the portability with viewing experience most people desire. The Huawei Matebook 13 is changing that by serving as the portable powerhouse ideally suited for viewing on the go.

It’s a notebook that can offer stunning visuals on demand because of its impressive power.

Designed for Viewing

The Huawei Matebook 13 features a 13-inch display. Surrounding that sizable display is a narrow 4.4mm bezel. A perfect and subtle combination that makes it easier for you to focus on what you’re watching.

The colours that appear onscreen pop with ease. They don’t turn out muddled, even when different, darker hues are displayed simultaneously.

Though not necessarily helpful for improving image quality, the Matebook 13 has a 10-point touchscreen with an anti-fingerprint coating. Feel free to adjust the screen using your fingers because there’s no risk of annoying smudges showing up.

Huawei has included NVIDIA’s GeForce MX150 graphics card in the Matebook. Coupled with Intel’s 8565U processor and you have a machine that won’t slow down during critical moments.

If you don’t need that much power, Huawei does also have a lower spec model that runs on Intel’s i5 8265U processor. However, there is a notable drop-off in performance.

In our opinion, you should stick with the i7 processor if you’re getting the Matebook 13. The minimal savings are not worth the performance downgrade.

A Quick Response

Another feature of the Huawei Matebook 13 that we loved was its level of responsiveness. It was a smooth experience free of lag and slow load times during our tests with Microsoft Office, browsing the web and streaming media. Netflix streamed over a wifi connection without a stutter.

The Huawei Matebook 13 also offers the OneHop feature. Using a compatible Android mobile device, you can upload photos and videos to the Matebook 13 within minutes. The catch is that compatibility seems to be only with certain Huawei handsets.

You’ll also notice how quickly this notebook works when you go to turn it on and off. It takes seconds to go from powered off to the desktop screen. You won’t have to twiddle your thumbs while this notebook gets ready.

A Word about the Warmth

The Huawei Matebook 13 features the Shark Fin 2.0 Fan. Designed to keep the notebook cooler by working faster than most fans, we found that the Matebook 13 did get a little warm under load. Our best guess is that a better location of vents could have assisted with better airflow internally.

Final Words

The Huawei Matebook 13 truly is a high-quality notebook. For streaming shows or basic gaming, you won’t find many other notebooks in this price range that can beat its performance.

Hardcore gamers, this isn’t for you but for those that want a great allround device, the Matebook 13 is well worth a look. Our only negative is that we have to return it now that the review is complete. 😂
