D-Link EXO AC2600 Design & Build

What makes this router different from others on the market is the technology involved. The D-Link AC2600 combined Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with some of the latest next-gen Wi-Fi technology to support the next level of service from your ISP.

The major difference with this router is that it will not only support your current 4K gaming, Ultra-HD movies from Netflix and other providers, and all of the bandwidth that is required for these kinds of user experience, but it will support next-gen games and movies as well. You won’t have to upgrade your router to catch up with your technology because it is set up to a much higher standard than current bandwidth needs.

In addition, the router has a great deal of customization internally, or you can simply take advantage of the smart processor technology and allow it to separate and prioritize your internet traffic for you.

There are a lot of great features that make the AC2600 wireless router unique, even among the huge selection of routers.

First, it features very high-performance antennas that will ensure that you always get a strong connection. That means even HD video will be able to stream easily to any device. In addition, the dual-band router broadcasts simultaneously and can supports speeds up to 2,533 Mbps with 1,733 on 5 GHz and 800 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.

Another great feature is the dual-core processor. This helps your router run fast enough to keep up with all of the high-performance devices in your home. Even gaming can be done flawlessly with this router.

The router also includes a technology called Advanced AC Smartbeam. Smartbeam virtually eliminates dead spots in the home and makes sure that you have consistent speeds anywhere in the house, behind closed doors and more.

There are two USB ports that you can use for connecting thumb drives or printers. One is a 2.0 USB and the other is 3.0.

It also has the ability to direct network traffic so if you really need bandwidth for a particular task, such as when gaming, you get the speeds that you need.

D-Link EXO AC2600 Performance

People that have very high bandwidth needs will be extremely impressed by this wireless router. There is no doubt that the router outperforms others that are supposed to work as well, some of them even costing twice as much as this D-Link.

In addition, there is the Smartbeam technology included with this device, which means this router eliminates that dead spots that you used to have with other wireless routers. This can be better shown with our heatmap tests below.

You will also really love the customization that this device offers. While this router will separate and prioritize traffic for you, many people prefer to run in manual mode, and you’ll love having that level of control over your internet traffic.

Should You Buy it?

The bottom line is that this is probably one of the most advanced routers on the market today. D-Link is a reputable brand to go with, and if you have high bandwidth needs, you will have no problem getting them with this router. If you have had dead spots in your home with other routers, this is one you may want to consider.

When you look at the total package and all that you get for the price, this is an easy product to recommend. It is easy to set up and will give you excellent performance for a long time to come.

Bought a D-link DIR-882 along with a 3TB Nas drive in an external case to use for network storage on a home network. Would not work and told by D-link that the router will not support drives over 1 TB. Was later told that a 3 TB SHOULD work and that my drive must not be compatible. Nowhere in ANY d-link documentation is the 1 TB limit identified or any mention of compatibility issues. D-link does NOT publish a list of products that have been tested. Had such documentation existed, I would have purchased a different router or drive. Their attitude is “too bad”. Will NEVER recommend or purchase D-link products again.

That is an unfortunate experience. Would you like me to try a drive larger than 1TB on my unit to see what happens? I’ll just need to source an USB caddy first.

I just put out a review on Newegg for my Exo ac2600 and though I have never liked any company that makes routers because the routers were always buggy, this bad boy has been better than I could have hoped for and more. It has turned my old tech into newer tech status for streaming and at no time have I have ever been disconnected (dropped) which at this point has been over a month of ownership. Old tech with flawed wifi cards always disconnect and yet my desktop hasn’t! I don’t use the network storage (yet) since I can just as easily use Plex from the desktop and seagate 6Tb drive for intranet streaming. In time I will buy a Plex pass for outside network streaming and then I’ll have it all (LoL).

Yeah it’s my daily wireless router at home as well and works well with Roku and my Xbox systems.

Is that true about the 1Tb limit?

Hello, well I tried 2 of the 882s. First one would not get an IP address from the modem. Returned and got another one. The next one would grt an IP address but not keep it, look in the config, there was no IP or subnet mask, etc. Funny thing all devices had an IP address and indicated internet access was available, it was not. Power off/On is only way to fix it. Returned for a full refund. Using a dir 645 for 5 years no issues, I just wanted to upgrade speed and range.

That’s odd and not what I am seeing with mine. Did you check the firmware version on the 882s you had?
