Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4 RAM Reviewed

Nothing like a stack of Elite RAM

When it comes to choosing DDR3 memory kits, consumers have a large selection that feature different frequencies, heat spreader designed and voltage ratings. When they were first introduced, they had a large price tag stamped on them, making is hard for the normal person to acquire – this is why it was mostly for professionals that were diving into the X99 platform. Thankfully, the prices eventually dropped, and today, it is possible to acquire a 32GB kit with a decent amount of high memory speed at an affordable price.

For gamers, this is great news as there are more games coming out that are starting to require capacities that are above 8GB. So, unless you plan on playing RIFT all your life, it is important that you look into a 32GB kit, but remember, you’ll be missing out on all of the latest and greatest games like Ark: Survival Evolved.

While doing a large amount of research in order to find good a good memory kit, we discovered the Ballistic Elite DDR4 (we chose the 32GB version). We could always just jump to the conclusion and recommend this product to you, but we don’t feel that would be fair.

In order for you to know exactly what you are getting and so that you can determine whether or not it will be suitable for you, here’s what you should know about this memory kit …

Package and Accessories

Elite Packaging

The memory kit will arrive in a blister pack – this package will contain two moulds that are responsible for holding the modules in its place during shipping. The unboxing experience might not be exciting, but the memory kit is definitely something you should be excited about.

On the back of the package, you’ll find the Crucial’s memory range in different languages and it will also direct you to a website that you can go to if you encounter stability problems and need help.

The Design

Looking at the design, we immediately fell in love – it’s bolt, yet has that simplistic look to it. While many place two vivid colours together, Crucial did something a bit different. It appears that they were more focused on a matte black theme, then added a unique appearance through unusual cut-outs. Some users may like an ostentatious design over this one, but regardless of who you are, you’re still going to want to admire the sophisticated styling of this module.

The heatsinks are removable, which can come in handy if you plan on installing a large air CPU cooler. The memory kit is 41 mm tall and there’s a total of four screws that you will need to remove in order to eliminate the heatsink. When you take the heatsink away, you’ll have a couple more millimetres that you can work with.

Be a Step Ahead of Your Opponents

Chances are, the person on the other end is fighting you with a slower DDR3 memory. Using this DDR4 with speeds starting at 2666 MT/s, you will be able to pwn them like never before. Along with these high speeds, you’ll notice an increase in frame rates, intense responsiveness and even an improvement in latencies.

Final Thoughts

For those of you that are tired of all that lag and FPS that just ruins your game, it’s time to improve your game and step up. Ballistix Elite DDR4 is exactly what you are needing. With faster speeds, who knows, you might even become the alpha of that popular survival game (Ark).
