Anyone familiar with home electronics has probably heard of the ASUS brand. They have created some really great products over the years and one of their latest offerings is the ROG Strix Wireless Headset. Let’s take a look at it carefully in this review and see if it will meet your audio needs.
This is an incredible piece of gaming technology that really shines among the wireless marketplace. While wireless is becoming better and better, and will be good enough and inexpensive enough to be standard in a few years, these headphones are way ahead of the curve because of the reduced latency over the 2.4 GHz wireless connection.
In addition, some of the other features that make this device stand out include total compatibility, whether you are gaming on a PC or Mac, or just using your mobile device. With a battery life of 10 hours, it will stand up to even marathon gaming, music or movie sessions. Plus, these headphones come with a comprehensive software program that will allow you to perfectly customize your sound.
ASUS ROG Strix Design & Build
We were totally impressed by the headphone part of the headset. It offered amazing sound. We have better sound now than when they had purchased way more expensive headsets.
It is also nice that this headset doesn’t catch interference from other wireless headsets so they can be used in a LAN party setting. Plus, they last for a long time obviously, because several people have rated and reviewed them after owning them for years.
Not all of us were impressed with the microphone. Although it is clear and easy to understand, it is not nearly as high quality as the headphones. In addition, one of the drawbacks of this headset is that it doesn’t offer mic feedback within the headphones so you never really know how loud you’re talking when you are wearing them.
ASUS ROG Strix Performance
There are several things that make these headphones unique in the market of wireless headsets. Most of the devices out there work on a Bluetooth connection, and while that could be a perfectly serviceable connection for most people, some have experienced latency issues.
ASUS eliminates that entire problem by not using the Bluetooth connection but instead making these connect wirelessly over a 2.4 GHz connection. You might think that would reduce the battery drastically on a wireless headset but this one will hold a charge for 10 hours, regardless of the stronger connection.
Plus, not all wireless headsets will easily work across every platform but ASUS has made compatibility easy with control software and drivers that will work no matter if you are on a PC, Mac or using any of your mobile devices.
Should You Buy it?
When you buy a pair of wireless headphones, you’re really looking for a couple of things: quality of sound and battery life. Included with the quality of sound is latency, which is important in business settings, gaming and all sorts of tasks.
This headset performs on both levels. Not only does it have superb-quality sound, it features almost zero latency due to the wireless connectivity in place of Bluetooth. Plus, the battery life is 10 hours and you can’t really expect more with a wireless headset that works as well as this one. The bottom line on this is you really can’t go wrong.
