4K Goodness

The reported pixel density of the MX27UQ is 163 pixels per inch and when combined with the 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution you get to see ultra sharp resolutions on a lot of screen real estate. In fact, 4K UHD gives you around 300% more screen space when compared to 1080P FHD screens.

Bluetooth Audio

ASUS have worked with ICEpower® to bring us an immersive sound experience on the MX27UQ. The in-built 3W speakers are based on Bang & Olufsen technology which help provide a much higher quality of sound. The icing on the cake is the use of bluetooth technology to allow the MX27UQ to also act as a wireless music streaming device. All you need to do is connect your bluetooth capable smartphone or tablet and it will also work when the monitor is in standby mode.

Final Thoughts

This was our first monitor review and had a great experience playing with the ASUS Designo MX27UQ. Everything was straightforward as it should be with any monitor install and the screen build quality was nothing short of amazing. The thin brushed aluminium bezel, low profile and other features including Bluetooth for wireless music playback won us over before we even turned it on.

Fortunately, when used it did not disappoint either. The screen had dark blacks and bright colours and worked well for media playback. The increased screen real-estate with 4K UHD resolution makes it great for working with graphics and supported games as well.

We didn’t get our screen calibration tool in time for this review but I am sure we will be looking at other ASUS screens in the near future and will also include some additional technical information regarding display output quality.

For now, we are still happy to recommend the ASUS Designo MX27UQ as a screen to definitely consider as your next purchase.

  1. Hi Noeneel Sharma,

I have this monitor MX27UQ, and I have just updated my PS4 console to a PS4 Pro, now here comes a problem. When I try to connect my PS4 Pro to this monitor through HDMI 2 ([email protected]), there shows nothing on the screen, but if I try to connect to the HDMI 1 port, which is the 2K one, it works well, but not available for the 4K setting.

Does this means this monitor is not compatible with PS4 Pro?

Could you help me with this issue, please?

    Frank

  2. Hello Noeneel, changing the subject.
    Concerning the ASUS mx27uq “panel”.
Is it glossy, semi-glossy or matte please.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards
    Alun

I was a bit gutted when I got mine to find the menu didn’t seem to have the game mode – not sure if it was produced before they started adding that to the menu. And also you can’t use the bluetooth speakers while it’s recieving a signal from the computer?!! Bit ad, well, not on mine anyway. I bought it as an upgrade to the MX27A – which is 2k and there’s not a noticeable difference to be honest, if anything the MX27A is brighter.

    1. Is the MX27A still available? Thanks for the note about the bluetooth speaker, next time we get another one like this we will try that as well to see what happens. Probably a technological limitation playing back from 2 input streams simultaneously.
