Now, let’s see if the new curved monitor is worth the price?

        Build Quality & Design

The curved screen is just under 20mm deep at the edge of the screen, its thinnest point. The MX34VQ then thickens out towards the center where it measures around 250mm deep, including the stand. If you’re a gamer or an employee who spends most of the time in front of the computer, the MX34VQ will look great on your desk.

It shares the same aesthetic features of the Asus Designo series, with a massive 34-inch screen, situated between a thin bezel. There are OSD controls underneath the monitor, and the screen has an 1800R curve.

The stand itself looks sleek stylish. The neck of the monitor is silver matte plastic at the back and black matte on the front. Though it offers tilt adjustment, it has a limited adjustability. It doesn’t provide proper ergonomic adjustments, which is understandable because of its size and length.

        Features

        Qi Wireless Charging

The monitor’s bottom is about 95mm above the desk. The screen’s top part is approximately 460mm off the desk, which is pretty much ideal for any desktop monitor. However, it would be better if the monitor has a height adjustment of the stand, especially for taller individuals.

To operate the stunning capabilities of the lustrous and ultra-wide monitor, it has three HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.2 slot. The drawback of this monitor is, it lacks a convenient USB 3.0 hub, which is a necessity in today’s modern world.

However, the Asus MX34VQ has a base with a Qi Wireless Charging design. It’s a fantastic add-on since everyone needs a charging port once in a while. The good thing is, you can charge your Qi supported mobile device by just putting it on the circular device, and it automatically charges. This can be done whether you’re using the monitor or even if it’s turned off.

Another problem you might encounter is the screen’s lack of VESA mounting slots. This means that the ultra-wide and large monitor was designed to be placed on a desk. However, with its size and weight, you’ll need a sturdy and huge table.

For the ultimate gaming and movie experience, the Asus MX34VQ features two high-quality speakers. These are great additions to the monitor to make it sound better, especially when you’re listening to music, watching videos and playing games.

        Performance

The Asus MX34VQ boasts a 100Hz refresh rate, with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. The screen uses an anti-glare matte surface and supports a true 8-bit colour and specifies a 4ms grey to grey response time.

The performance of this monitor is necessarily impressive since it has a strong static contrast. At the same time, it has a pleasant balance and colour after a few changes and adjustments on its OSD.

Lastly, the monitor can produce a contrast ratio of up to 3000:1, which is superb. This feature means your images, videos, and gaming elements are more distinct and sharp.

Now, with the amazing colours, resolution and user-friendly features of this curved monitor, you will enjoy your movies and games. For employees, the monitor offers you a new way to look at your documents and sheets.

        Final Thoughts

I can say that the Asus MX34VQ is one of the most stunning, sleek and elegant wide monitors in the market today. When it comes to its design, it’s modern and stylish. Though it’s not a forerunner when it comes to the performance, it certainly has many advantages, and it provides a unique experience to its users – whether it’s a movie marathon, an online game or office work.

With a new viewing experience brought by the MX34VQ monitor, you’ll surely enjoy activities while you’re online or using the computer. The addition of the speakers can make the whole experience worthwhile and significant. Now, you can work, or make videos, watch movies or play your online games at ease.

The Asus MX34VQ has a Australian street price of around AUD$1,400 and USD$750 if you are in the US. But with a wide range of special features and a few minor flaws, the monitor is worth its price. The bottom line is that you get value for money when you buy this desktop monitor. Aside from clearer images and resolutions, the screen is versatile, which is a big plus for those who are looking for the perfect monitor for their movie and gaming experience.
