Due to the increase in the number of complaints regarding the safety and quality of cheap (aka “fake”) USB charging accessories, Apple recently commenced a “Takeback” program in the United States and China. This has now been extended to a handful of additional countries.
This program essentially enables the consumer to take their suspect adapter into a participating store to trade in for a genuine Apple adapter at a discounted price:
- Australia – $14 AUD
- Canada – $11 CAD
- China – ¥68 CNY
- France, Germany and the United Kingdom – €10 EUR
- Japan – ¥1,000 JPY
- United States – $10 USD
