Android 4.3

Google have officially announced Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and it looks hot. The biggest changes is the introduction of profile restriction and multiuser support. The later essentially enables you to share the one tablet across multiple users.

multi-user“It’s your fully customized tablet. And theirs, too. With support for multiple users, you can give each person their own space. Everyone can have their own homescreen, background, widgets, apps and games – even individual high scores and levels! And since Android is built with multitasking at its core, it’s a snap to switch between users – no need to log in and out.”

Profiles and users are only available on Android tablets.

Other significant updates included in 4.3 are:

  • Support for virtual surround sound on the Nexus 7
  • Autocomplete on the dial pad
  • Support for OpenGL ES 3.0
  • Wireless display as featured on the new Nexus 7 and 10 – send screen to TV
  • Improved text input
  • Bluetooth Smart support
  • Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3
  • Can now disable apps in settings
  • Improved photo album – enhanced photo daydream
  • Fast user switching

The update is available now for stock Nexus devices.
